Starting out as a young professional trying to be a clever, my thinking was: Characters + Pictures = charactures.

Wrote “charactures” on my invoices. 

Received many phone calls to correct my misspelling of caricatures.

I relented in favor of using the Italian word for humorously cartooned portraits.
